The football team did not have the greatest senior night. Their game with Carterville decided who they would play in their first playoff game.

Since they lost against Carterville this past weekend, they will be playing against the Tolono Rockets for their first playoff game this coming up Saturday.

“I think we will do pretty good this Saturday,” senior Gabe Swarringin said. “We know what we are getting into this coming up game and are prepared for anything.”

The Bulldogs will be taking a pitstop in Effingham for some last minute preparations. They will be doing walkthroughs for the formations. They are doing this because they want the team to be warmed up and not drained for their first playoff game.

The Bulldogs are not nervous and are ready to put up a good fight against the Rockets.

¨This team has gone through a lot of ups and downs, but through  all of it we have always been able to make a positive out of it,” senior Cooper Phalin said.

The loss against the Lions is driving  them to try harder than before. If they lose this game, then their season is over. And the seniors are not ready to say goodbye to their HHS football career. Their drive to be better also makes them want vengeance on their previous losses as well.

“The one team I want another shot at is Benton,” Swarringin said.

The Bulldogs lost to Benton Oct. 14, so they are hoping to come back with a win, if they do have another game with them.

The Bulldogs hope to win the playoffs, but they are all happy to at least have one more game ahead of them. The team is confident and is ready to bring home a Bulldog win.
