A new addition to Harrisburg’s dining scene is opening its doors with the arrival of Lucky’s Restaurant, a high-end Japanese dining experience located at 9 E. Poplar St.
The restaurant will feature a $50 fixed-price, multi-course tasting menu designed to highlight elements of Japanese cuisine. Each course will be presented tableside by the chef. Dishes include Wagyu beef, crispy farm select salad, sunomono and gourmet sushi. Early customer feedback has praised the generous portions and friendly staff.
The food choices that the restaurant has are rare and something never really seen before in our town. “I haven’t really thought about it, but if the opportunity comes, I’ll definitely take it,” said freshman Kiara Cook, when asked if she plans to try the restaurant.
Cook said the menu items sound appealing, even if they are unfamiliar. “They sound interesting. I’ve never tried any of them before,” she said.
Freshman Annistyn Baugher said she believes Lucky’s will benefit the community.
“I think it will bring a new sit-down restaurant that we definitely needed, with very few we have,” Baugher said. “But also something new to try in this town and have new options.” History fans will also appreciate that the resturant will be located in one of Harrisburg’s oldest buildings on the square. Rennovations inside the building are currently underway.
Baugher added she is excited for the opening. “Yes, I think it’s a good opportunity for some new food and something new to try.”
In addition to food, Lucky’s is expected to create jobs and attract visitors from neighboring towns, bringing new business to the community. Owner John Moreno has experience in the restaurant field and is especially skilled in the art of Japanese cuisine. The restaurant plans to open by the end of November. Owners hope to establish Lucky’s as a successful dining destination while encouraging residents to support local businesses over fast food.
