Homecoming is more than just a school event. It’s a celebration of tradition, pride and togetherness. Each year, the community comes together to create lasting memories.
For students, homecoming week is filled with anticipation and excitement. With the “Hometown Heroes” theme uniting students, staff and the community, this year’s celebration promises to honor tradition while creating new memories.
The student council announced the “Hometown Heroes” theme earlier this fall. Throughout the week, students will dress according to the theme. The week begins with Pajama Day, followed by Class Hero Day, when each grade represents a different superhero. Wednesday is Dynamic Duo Day, where students pair up to dress alike with a friend.
Thursday highlights a tradition with Purple and White Day. Students will go all out in their Bulldog gear to prepare for the parade. The week wraps up on Friday with Superhero vs. Villains Day, which also is the theme for Friday night’s football game.
During the week, student council members will deliver cookies and certificates to local “hometown heroes,” including the police department, city hall, Harrisburg Medical Center and the Golden Circle.
More than 50 businesses and community groups will come together to enjoy the parade. This year’s grand marshal is retired history teacher Dan Craig.
After the parade, the Bulldogs will prepare for the most anticipated game of the year.
“I am super excited for the homecoming game,” senior Brody Nyberg said. “We have been practicing and putting in a lot of work this season.”
Everything leads up to Friday night when the Harrisburg Bulldogs face Breese Mater Dei in the homecoming matchup.
