The Harrisburg boys basketball team will tip off its 2024-2025 season on Dec. 2 in the Goreville Tournament.
After a disappointing 14-19 finish last year, both coaches and players are optimistic and eager to turn things around this season. While the team will need to replace the production of Camron Ande, the third all-time leading scorer at Harrisburg High School, the Bulldogs return three of their five starters, who are expected to be even better this year. Although the absence of Ande will most definitely be felt, the team has the drive and experience to have a successful season.
A key addition to the team is Jalon Ellis, a senior who transferred from Carrier Mills for his final year. Ellis, a 1,000-point scorer in three seasons at Carrier Mills, will fill a significant role left by Ande’s departure.
“I’m very excited about the season and stepping into a new role at a new school,” Ellis said. “I feel we will have a very good season.”
The Bulldogs will also benefit from a more experienced squad this year. After recording only two conference wins in 2023, the team enters the new season with nine seniors, compared to just two last year. With improved maturity, hard work, and a strong returning core, the Bulldogs are poised for a much-improved season.
